Summer is well underway, schools are on a summer break,it's vacation time at last!.
This means that between now and the second half of August when we usually start getting things ready for the new school year there are 6 weeks of vacation for our school.
Traditionally summer is to me what new year time is for everyone else:goal setting time! For starters, because I have more time to spare and devote to my goals. And because I'm temporarily away from work and the inactivity is driving me nuts!It is much nicer planning for things to do instead of feeling utterly useless and lazy.(Yeah,I know,I should do something about my workaholic habits!)
So without further ado here are My This Summer Resolutions:
-Purge,Clean and Declutter like a maniac
There is something about the energy of clutter that gets us down, suffocates us,stifles our creativity and keeps us in a depressing mood. The more clutter, the less fun.Items vibrate at a frequency of their own, which in its turn affects our own frequency.Cluttered home/room=cluttered mind.
So I'm going to get rid of as much clutter as my co-habitation with five more people allows me to (I've got to show some respect for other people's belongings). I'm throwing away, giving away or donating 1000 items from my home. Why this number?Because although I'm not a hoarder,I usually tend to hesitate, lose heart, settle for less purging and so more clutter stays put in the end.To avoid this I prefer setting up a number, which gives the rational, practical part of my brain a tangible task to deal with. And I write down and cross the items that I'm getting rid of,to keep track of my progress.
When I am done decluttering, it's time for radical cleaning.I usually hate that part and I prefer hiring other people to do the dirty work for me.But not summer cleaning. Not only because I have more time to spare ,but also because it keeps me in touch with the practical side of running my household and helps me estimate what needs to be maintained, fixed or replaced .Plus, there's always a Fly Lady hiding in each woman and mine comes out of her hiding place at this time of the year!
-Detoxing and fasting for as long as I can
Same as the above, exept this one is all about the physical.I'm a certified chocaholic so this thing is tough for me but hey,no pain,no gain!I started the cleansing-detoxing routine five years ago. There was this adult student of mine who was doing the two day apples-only diet.He was teasing me that I wouldn't even last half a day, given my well-documented addiction to sweets .I took up the challenge(of course) and the experience wasn't a bad one, except for the fact that I suffered from constant headaches.Since then I've been doing this once a year. Not just apples though, all fruits of season are included. My favourite for this time of the year are cherries, watermelon, melon, peaches, plums and apricots.
-Put the finishing touches on my Business Operations Manual Manuscript
I've been working on this one for years. So far only the Teachers Manual and Sales Manual parts are in a complete form. The rest lies in various forms of documents and reports in my computer at work( and in my brain).Shame on you,Eirini! Just finish what you started! The thing is,I cannot bring myself to get this over and done with because my perfectionist nature urges me to add yet another chapter or section to it and so it can never be brought to completion.
Not this time, though.I am going to sort out everything and print it into a neat, well organised book (and store it electronically as an e-book). I can always add on more if I ever need to.Every business needs I manuaL.Yes,even your business.Yes,even if your business is 'just a blog'.Yes,even if you are only planning to start a business. No,having it all in your head is not enough.Go write down the draft now.One page is all you need to begin.
-Finish the E-Book I'm writing
It is going to be a Free E-Book(of course!) offered in this blog. And it's going to be about something lots of online and social media friends have been inquiring about, both with private texts and comments.I'm having so much fun with the whole project!I can't wait to share it with you!
Read 100 storybooks to my youngest boys
Actually we did this last summer as well.We only read 64 back then, but that wasn't bad either. Here's the plan:we borrow children age appropriate and fun books from the local library.Usually they are a few pages each. Not educational stuff, mind you.I mean really FUN books.Stories, fairytales, traditional tales etc.If the illustrations are not fun and exciting and nice to look at,the books do not make it to our home.We go through three to five a day.We read them again and againfor the next few days.Just for the fun of it.And because I want to make my boys readers for life.Ever since I read that book I knew this was the way to go about it.In a nutshell, the book is about how systematically reading to your children when young will turn them into avid readers later on in life.
-Have loads of fun
Need I elaborate on this one?Yes,I do.Being such a goal-oriented person myself,I frequently make fun the last thing on my list of priorities. But no fun means no life, low vibrations, less energy, less money!I don't want that!So I kind of trick my mind into believing this fun thing is yet another goal.I've compiled a list of fun activities and things to do this summer and I make sure I incorporate at least one daily.Do you have such a list? Why not?Go have one right now!
What are your plans for this summer?
Wait, you don't need any!Just have fun, whatever you decide to do and all things will eventually fall into place!
